Freshly elected chairman of Save Romania Union - Freedom, Unity, and Solidarity Party (USR PLUS) Dacian Ciolos stated on Saturday, in the opening session of the formation's Congress, that the "accident" at the Constanta Infectious Diseases Hospital showed once again "that we are adrift".

"I can't help but think of yesterday's [Friday - ed.n.] accident, which showed us once again, if need be, that we are adrift and we have been for several years, without yet finding the trajectory that might feel like we are growing. And I can't help but remember in these moments that in 2015 I came at the helm of a government that had to face the reality back then, just as tragic, of the accident at Colectiv," said Ciolos.

Seven patients died on Friday in the fire that broke out at the ICU COVID ward of the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Constanta. The entire hospital, where 125 patients were hospitalized, was evacuated, Agerpres.ro informs.
