The rector of SNSPA, Remus Pricopie, requested, on Monday, the Ethics Commission of the institution, an "urgent and detailed" analysis of the case of professor Alfred Bulai, requested his withdrawal from the position of director of the Department of Sociology and the suspension of his participation in teaching activities on the period of the analysis.

"On Monday, July 29, 2024, the management of the National School of Political and Administrative Studies (SNSPA) took note with particular concern of the accusations of sexual harassment and abusive behaviour brought by Professor Dr. Alfred Bulai, formulated as part of a published journalistic investigation recently. SNSPA has zero tolerance for any form of harassment, discrimination or abuse. We consider that such behaviour is unacceptable and harmful to the academic environment. Immediately after the accusations appeared in the media, the rector of SNSPA Dr. Remus Pricopie, after consultation with the president of the SNSPA, Prof. Iordan Barbulescu, and the dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Dr. Cristian Pirvulescu, reported ex officio to the SNSPA Ethics Committee asking for an urgent and detailed analysis of the situation," informs the higher education institution in a press release.

The source specifies that, at the committee's level, all the necessary evidence will be collected and all involved parties will be heard to establish the facts, and appropriate sanctions will be applied, if necessary.

According to a journalistic investigation carried out by the Snoop website, Alfred Bulai, a professor at SNSPA, allegedly sexually harassed several female students.

For its part, the REPER party requests the Romanian Police to report ex officio, "urgently", and to investigate all cases of sexual harassment, in the context of the "abuses of Professor Alfred Bulai", complained by students from the National School of Political and Administrative Studies. At the same time, REPER asks the Ministry of Education to implement a guide of conduct in university education.

According to the source, among the victims of Alfred Bulai is also a member of REPER.
