Unemployment rate in Romania rises to 3.28% in November

The unemployment rate registered at the national level at the end of November was 3.28%, higher than the previous month by 0.07 percentage points, with the number of unemployed men exceeding that of women, the National Employment Agency (ANOFM) reported on Tuesday.

The total number of registered unemployed was 262,418. Of the total, 57,739 were unemployed with benefits and 204,679 without benefits.

The number of unemployed with benefits increased by 2,015 people, and the number of unemployed without benefits increased by 3,552 people compared to the previous month, the ANOFM stated.

By area of residence, the number of unemployed people at the end of November is as follows: 71,452 unemployed people come from urban areas and 190,966 unemployed people are from rural areas.

The number of unemployed women on November 30, 2025 was 126,502 people, while the number of unemployed men was 135,916 people. Most unemployed people were between 40 and 49 years old (63,475), followed by those over 55 years old (62,571), at the other end being people between 25 and 29 years old (15,798).

Regarding the structure of unemployment by level of education, the unemployed without education and those with primary education have a significant share in the total number of unemployed registered in the records of the National Employment Agency (29.57%). The unemployed with a secondary education level represent 33.84% of the total number of registered unemployed, and those with university education 4.94%.
