Two earthquakes occurred in the Vrancea seismic zone on Sunday, according to information published by the National Institute for Earth Physics.
The first earthquake, with a magnitude of 4.1 degrees on the Richter scale, took place at 07:16 AM (local time in Romania) and occurred in the Vrancea seismic zone, Buzau County, at a depth of 128 kilometers (km). The earthquake occurred near the following cities: 53 km northwest of Buzau, 59 km east of Brasov, 61 km north of Ploiesti, 61 km southeast of Sfantu-Gheorghe, 72 km west of Focsani, and 89 km northeast of Targoviste.
The second earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.5 degrees on the Richter scale, occurred at 08:43 AM (local time), in Vrancea County, at a depth of 64.5 kilometers. The earthquake occurred near the following cities: 31 km west of Focsani, 71 km north of Buzau, 79 km east of Sfantu-Gheorghe, 83 km southwest of Barlad, 86 km south of Bacau, and 94 km east of Brasov.
The most significant earthquake this year, with a magnitude of 5.4, occurred on September 16 in Buzau County.
