The turnover in wholesale trade (except for motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased both as a gross series by 1.6% and as a series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality by 1%, in the first ten months of this year, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
According to data released on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the increase in turnover was generated by increases in intermediary activities in wholesale trade (+10.7%), non-specialized wholesale trade (+10.2%), wholesale trade of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+9.1%), wholesale trade of consumer goods, other than food (+5.3%) and wholesale trade of IT and telecommunications equipment (+1.2%).
At the opposite end of the scale, decreases were recorded in wholesale of raw agricultural products and live animals (-5.1%), specialized wholesale of other products (-4%) and wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (-2%).
In October 2025, trade business (except for trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) decreased compared to September 2025, as a gross series, by 3.5%, as a result of the decline recorded in wholesale trade of raw agricultural products and living stock (-25.2%), intermediary activities in wholesale trade (-10.4%), wholesale trade of food, beverages and tobacco (-2.5%), wholesale trade of other machinery, equipment and supplies (-1.9%) and wholesale trade of consumer goods, other than food (-1.4%), Agerpres informs.
Increases were recorded in the wholesale of computer and telecommunications equipment (+7.3%), non-specialized wholesale trade (+3.5%) and specialized wholesale trade of other products (+3.2%).
The trade business decreased by 1.1% month-on-month in October, as series depending on the number of business days and seasonality.
Compared to October 2024, the turnover in wholesale trade (except for trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased both as gross series by 1.2% and as series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality by 4.3% in October 2025.
As gross series, the business development was influenced by increases in wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+10.4%), non-specialized wholesale (+9.7%), wholesale of raw agricultural products and live animals (+7.4%), wholesale intermediation activities (+7.1%) and wholesale of consumer goods, other than food (+2.6%).
Decreases were recorded in: wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (-6.2%), specialized wholesale of other products (-4.9%) and wholesale of computer and telecommunications equipment (-0.1%).
