Turnover in market services provided to the population fell 1.8% in gross terms in the first ten months of 2025 compared with the same period last year, and by 2.1% in adjusted terms, according to data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Friday.
Thus, in the period from 1 January to 31 October 2025 compared with the same period of the previous year, the evolution of market service activities provided to the population, in gross terms, was driven by declines in turnover in the activities of travel agencies and tour operators (-14.1%), gambling and other recreational activities (-2.9%), washing and dry cleaning of textile articles and fur products (-1.8%) and hotel and restaurant activities (-1.3%). Hairdressing and other beauty treatment services increased 9.1%.
As regards market services provided to the population in gross terms, in October 2025 compared with the previous month, turnover volume recorded a decrease of 8.5%, as a result of declines in hotel and restaurant activities (-12%), travel agency and tour operator activities (-5.6%) and hairdressing and other beauty treatment services (-3.5%). Increases were recorded in gambling and other recreational activities (+3.8%) and in washing and dry cleaning of textile articles and fur products, up 1.2%.
The turnover volume of market services provided to the population, adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, fell 1.9% in October 2025 compared with the previous month.
Compared with October 2024, market service activities provided to the population in gross terms recorded a turnover 7.3% lower in October 2025, due to declines in hotel and restaurant activities (-9.4%), hairdressing and other beauty treatment services (-8.8%), washing and dry cleaning of textile articles and fur products (-7.8%), travel agency and tour operator activities (-4.7%) and gambling and other recreational activities (-0.3%).
Market service activities provided to the population, adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, fell 6.9% in October 2025 compared with October 2024.
