The bodies of the seven Greek citizens who lost their lives in the road accident on Tuesday, on National Road DN6, near Lugojel, were repatriated to Greece on Thursday afternoon by a military plane.

Present at the airport was the Greek ambassador to Romania, Evangelia Grammatika, who arrived in Timisoara on Tuesday evening.

"After a religious service officiated by Metropolitan Ioan of Banat on the runway of the Timisoara International Airport, in which he prayed for the souls of the deceased, the lifeless bodies of the seven Greek citizens were boarded onto the military aircraft that took off for Greece. It was a tragedy, during which we, all the authorities in Timis [county], provided all the logistical support that was needed to facilitate both the transport of the victims, in the first phase, to the Lugoj Municipal Hospital, and then the transfer of the bodies of the deceased to the Timisoara Institute of Forensic Medicine. Special attention was also paid to the three young people who survived and were hospitalized at the Timisoara County Hospital, two of whom were repatriated on Thursday morning by a medical plane to Greece. In the County Hospital, "There is one patient left, who was operated on last night and remains here until he can safely leave the hospital. I have been in contact with the Greek ambassador the whole time," Timis sub-prefect, Deian Popov, told AGERPRES.
