The Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) is marking 113 years since its founding with a series of academic, scientific and cultural events scheduled for March 30 to April 3.

"Marking the 113th anniversary of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies is, first and foremost, a reaffirmation of a mission assumed with responsibility: to train highly qualified human capital and to contribute, through education and research, to the sustainable development of the economy and society. Over time, ASE has built a solid academic model based on rigour, coherence and international openness. Today, we continue to build, together with our entire academic community, the future of the university and of the generations that will carry forward its values. Vivat, Crescat, Floreat!" ASE rector Nicolae Istudor said in a press release sent on Monday to AGERPRES.

Founded on April 6, 1913, under the name Academy of High Commercial and Industrial Studies, the university has steadily evolved, training generations of professionals who actively contribute to economic and social development.

The academic community is also marking this moment in its history by paying tribute to ASE's prominent figures through wreath-laying ceremonies, as a sign of respect for the rectors, deans and professors who contributed to the institution's development and prestige.

The central event of the anniversary programme is the festive assembly on April 1, during which honorary titles and distinctions will be awarded to personalities who have contributed to the institution's development and to strengthening its prestige.

The anniversary programme also includes scientific sessions organised by faculties, the annual conference organised in partnership by the National Bank of Romania and the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, held at the central bank's headquarters, on the theme "Risks and opportunities in the Romanian financial system", a student scientific communications session with over 1,250 participating students and around 850 papers structured into 40 sections, and the interdisciplinary competition "Students of today, professionals of tomorrow", bringing together more than 1,000 pupils from across the country, with 531 projects entered.

The institution will also organise exhibitions, book launches and student performances, as well as sports competitions dedicated to the university community.

With more than 25,000 students and a diversified educational offer in Romanian, English, French and German, the university is strengthening its position as an international educational hub and an active partner of the business environment.
