State borrows over RON 700 million from commercial banks

The state, through the Ministry of Finance (MF), borrowed, on Monday, 713.2 million RON from the commercial banks, through an issue of treasury certificates with a discount, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

Thus, the MF borrowed RON 713.2 million through an issue of treasury certificates with a discount, with an 11- month residual maturity, at an average yield of 5.85% per year. The nominal value of the issue was RON 500 million, and the banks subscribed RON 1.341 billion.

The Ministry of Finance has planned, in July 2024, loans from commercial banks worth 6 billion RON, to which the amount of 585 million RON can be added through additional sessions of non-competitive offers, related to bond auctions.

The total amount, of 6.585 billion RON, is 365 million RON less than the one that was scheduled in June 2024, of 6.95 billion RON, and will be intended for refinancing the public debt and financing the state budget deficit.
