A special centre intended to support people with disabilities is set to be built in the municipality of Baia Mare through European funding exceeding 21 million lei, Mayor Doru Dancus informs on Thursday.
According to the mayor, the Respiro Centre will be developed in line with specific standards for people with disabilities and will provide accommodation, care, and rehabilitation services for up to 18 beneficiaries at the same time.
During the project's implementation period, more than 100 adults with disabilities classified as having severe or pronounced disabilities will directly benefit from the social services provided by the centre.
'The main component of the project is the construction of the centre itself,' said Doru Dancus.
In addition, the centre will host socio-cultural, recreational, educational, and leisure activities tailored to the needs of the beneficiaries.
Personal care services and daily assistance will also be provided, along with recreational activities such as gardening and the maintenance of green spaces. The project also includes activities aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle through physical activity, helping to improve the quality of life and the level of autonomy of adults with disabilities.
The financing contract has been signed by the municipality, and the project will be implemented through the Social Assistance Directorate. The total value of the project amounts to 21,354,316.89 lei, VAT included, of which 9,981,402.59 lei represents eligible funding. The financing is provided by the European Social Fund through the Inclusion and Social Dignity Programme 2021-2027.
