Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Sorin Grindeanu met on Tuesday with Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Rim Kap-soo, at the end of his mission in Romania, occasion on which the two officials reviewed the progress achieved in recent years in bilateral relations.
"A true friend of Romania and of Romanians! I was honoured today to receive the visit of His Excellency, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Rim Kap-soo, on the occasion of the conclusion of his mission in Romania. It was an opportunity to review the remarkable progress achieved in the past years and to express my full appreciation for his personal commitment to boost our Strategic Partnership. The year 2025 marked a symbolic milestone: 35 years of diplomatic relations (30 March 1990). In this context, the parliamentary dialogue has also played an important role. Today, I also brought to mind the visit in July of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Woo Won-shik, a moment that reconfirmed the strength of our ties. I thanked His Excellency for the invitation to pay an official visit to Seoul, which reconfirms the openness of the Chamber of Deputies for an active legislative cooperation," Grindeanu wrote on his Facebook page.
He added that, although trade exchanges between Romania and South Korea are solid, he underscored the need to identify new opportunities for Romanian exports on the South Korean market, Agerpres informs.
"In the context of Romania's accession to the Schengen Area, the Port of Constanta now offers major competitive advantages for South Korean investors, including through a partnership with the Port of Busan. A series of other forms of cooperation, including in the energy sector and the defence industry, represent points of interest for our countries. I was honoured by this close cooperation and I hope that our bilateral relations will continue. I am convinced that His Excellency will remain, in the future as well, an active promoter of the partnership between Romania and South Korea," the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies pointed out.
