Social Democrat Party Chair Liviu Dragnea told private TV station Antena 3 on Sunday that many PSD colleagues reproached him with not being an "iron fist", mentioning at the same time that he has lately delegated more attributions informally, an aspect that "has not led to much coherence."
"Yesterday [Saturday] many colleagues reproached me I was not an iron fist. And I have to admit it, I have delegated quite a lot of duties in an informal way in the last seven or eight months, even after the Congress, and that did not lead to much coherence. It led to harder communication with the rest of the party, the county organizations, my parliamentary colleagues, while I was dealing with some very important issues, some visible, others that have not been seen, but very important, and that have generated and still generate results. That will not happen again [the delegation of attributions]," Dragnea told Antena 3.
The PSD chair said he had no resentment after the meeting of the Executive Committee on Friday, where discussions took place on the letter signed by Social Democrats Gabriela Firea, Adrian Tutuianu and Paul Stanescu, that demanded his resignation.
"I have no resentment after Friday, but I no longer have the patience and I no longer want to have such situations again, because if after this massive response from the party - and I mean the basis of the party, that it does not support and does not agree with such actions and such movements - it means that we can only speak of ill faith. One of PSD's strong points has always been the unity of the party, especially when it was under attack, it became very united, and it became very determined. And the observance of the rules: when we were observing the rules that we assumed together in 2016, we had very good results. Coherence in communication, coherence in political action, parliamentary action, electoral action and in organization - and results followed," added Dragnea.
