The authorities in Satu Mare County decided on Tuesday to ban equestrian competitions containing unnecessary loads-pulling tests, the Prefect's Institution informs on its Facebook page.
"During the meeting of the Local Center for Disease Control on September 16, 2025, convened by Prefect Altfatter Tamas as president, decision no. 38 of September 16, 2025 was adopted on the approval of the Plan of measures for events such as: horse exhibition/equestrian competition and live animal exhibition in Satu Mare County. Thus, starting today, the organization and holding of equestrian competitions with unnecessary loads-pulling tests is prohibited in Satu Mare County," the cited source informs.
Also, according to the adopted decision, for the proper conduct of events with live animals, horse exhibitions and exhibitions of other live animals, authorized by the Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Directorate (DSVSA), the organizers must also have the okay of the commission established in line with the provisions in force and representatives of the Satu Mare County Police Inspectorate - Animal Police, the Satu Mare County Gendarmerie Inspectorate and DSVSA will be present during the events.
"This decision brings a state of normalcy in terms of organizing equestrian competitions and contests, without episodes of cruelty and inadequate treatment applied to the horse - one of the most noble animals", declared Prefect Altfatter Tamas. AGERPRES
