Romanian tennis players Patricia Maria Tig and Ilinca Dalina Amariei on Thursday progressed to the quarterfinals of the W15 Cluj-Napoca ITF tournament, prize money USD 15,000.
Top seed Tig defeated Cristiana Nicoleta Todoni in the round of 16 and will face Italian Angelica Raggi in the third round.
Second seed Amariei won in three sets against Czech Veronika Kulhava, 6-2 4-6 6-4, and her next opponent will be Alesia Breaz, 17.
Six Romanians advanced to the quarterfinals, with the other three being Simona Ogescu, Lavinia Tanasie (who will be opponents) and Bianca Elena Barbulescu.
