Hidroelectrica's net electricity production fell by 15% last year, to 11,847 GWh, amid a 15% decline in energy production from hydro sources, which totaled 11,585 GWh, according to preliminary key operational indicators published by the company on the Bucharest Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
Electricity production from wind sources was 262 GWh, also down 9% compared to the previous year.
Electricity purchases rose by 172%, to 2,209 GWh, while the amount of energy sold decreased by 4%, to 14,056 GWh.
The company returned, last week, to the first position in the ranking of companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, in terms of stock market capitalization, reaching a market value of 62.4 billion lei, the electricity producer announced.
Hidroelectrica is the largest producer of electricity from renewable sources in Romania and one of the most important players in the energy sector of South-Eastern Europe. With a portfolio of over 6.3 GW of installed capacity in hydropower plants, cumulated with the Crucea wind farm, the company contributes to national energy security and to achieving the decarbonization objectives set by EU policies.
