Industrial turnover in Romania grew by 2.1% in the first five months of 2025, year-on-year, on advances in mining and quarrying (+16.7%) and manufacturing (+1.6%), according to data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS), published on Thursday.
By major industrial groups, there were increases in the durable goods industry (+14.4%), consumer goods industry (+4.1%), capital goods industry (+4%) and intermediate goods industry (+0.9%), agerpres reports.
Between January 1 and May 31, 2025, the energy industry fell by 11.9%.
In May 2025, the turnover in the industry increased by 5% in nominal terms, month-on-month, on growth recorded in manufacturing (+5.2%). Mining and quarrying fell by 1.5%.
By major industrial groups, the following reported increases: the capital goods industry (+8.8%), intermediate goods industry (+5.5%), durable goods industry (+5.2%) and consumer goods industry (+1.8%), while the energy industry decreased by 8.5%.
According to statistics, the turnover in the industry in May 2025 increased in nominal terms year-on-year by 11.6% overall on growth in mining and quarrying (+15.4%) and in manufacturing (+11.5%).
By major industrial groups, there were increases in the capital goods industry (+20.5%), durable goods industry (+18.3%), consumer goods industry (+6.9%), intermediate goods industry (+6.2%) and the energy industry (+4.4%).
