Romanians' interest in investments is growing, but the level of information remains moderate, with 57% of respondents to a study considering that they have little or no information about such financial products.

According to research conducted by Raiffeisen Bank Romania in partnership with Appinio, only one Romanian in three considers that they have fairly good knowledge about investments.

Regarding how Romanians get information about investment products, the internet (profile websites and forums) is the main source of information, mentioned by 40% of respondents. In second place is the bank where they have an account, indicated by 32% of survey participants, followed by friends or family (26%). Other sources used are dedicated investment applications (20%) and social media (19%), which shows that Romanians use a combination of digital sources and personal recommendations to better understand this field.

"We see a growing interest in investments from Romanians, which represents responsible behavior that can contribute to a more secure future. The first step is access to easy-to-understand information, and our role as a financial institution is to offer clear explanations and solutions adapted to each investor profile, so that decisions are made with full knowledge of the facts," said Mihail Ion, Vice President of Retail and member of the Board of Directors of Raiffeisen Bank Romania, quoted in the presentation of the study.

To make investing accessible, Romanians say they would need easy-to-use digital platforms. They would also appreciate a dedicated section in the mobile app for learning and investment simulation, and would prefer personalized advice to make more informed financial decisions. In addition, they say online video tutorials would help them better understand investment products.

To meet the increased demand for simple and easy-to-administer investment products, Raiffeisen Bank Romania recently launched the "Start in Investments" program, an interactive digital module available directly in the Smart Mobile mobile banking application.

The program helps users better understand how financial investments work, whether they are just starting out or already have investments. Clients have access to five interactive courses, in Romanian and English, accompanied by a self-assessment questionnaire at the end. Thus, the information can be easily navigated and represents a starting point for people with no previous investment experience.

The research on Romanians' interest in investments is part of the About Money 1:1 series, conducted by Raiffeisen Bank Romania. The study was conducted in collaboration with Appinio, using the CAWI method, on a nationally representative sample of one thousand people, in March 2026.

Raiffeisen Bank, a top universal bank with solid capitalization and liquidity, operates on the Romanian banking market, serving approximately 2.3 million clients, individuals and legal entities.
