Romania will compete in Group 6 of the European Men's Handball Championship - EHF EURO 2028 qualifiers, alongside France, Poland and Latvia, according to the draw held on Thursday evening in Lisbon.
France, the 2024 European champion, was recently taken over by the famous Spanish coach of Kyrgyz origin Talant Dujshebaev.
Romania and Poland also faced each other in the EURO 2026 preliminaries, with the tricolors losing both games by one goal, 27-28 at home and 29-30 away.
In total, 20 teams will qualify for the final tournament, the top two ranked teams from each group, as well as the four best third-place teams.
EHF EURO 2028 will take place from 13 to 30 January 2028 in Spain, Portugal and Switzerland. The reigning European champion, Denmark, will not compete in the preliminaries, as will the host teams, with the four teams set to compete in the EHF EURO Cup 2028.
