Romanian-Turkish consortium to supervise works on Section 1C Sarateni-Joseni of Unirii Motorway

A Romanian-Turkish consortium won the contract to supervise works on Section 1C Sarateni-Joseni of the Unirii (Union) Motorway (A8) Targu Mures-Targu Neamt with an offer of 51.43 million lei (excluding VAT), the National Road Investment Company (CNIR) announced on Wednesday.

"Today, the National Road Investment Company has appointed the consortium Activ Proiectare Infrastructura SRL (leader) - Emay Uluslararasi Muhendislik ve Musavirlik Anonim Sirketi as the winner of the contract to supervise works on Section 1C Sarateni-Joseni of the A8 Targu Mures-Targu Neamt Motorway. The contract was awarded to the consortium of Romanian and Turkish engineering companies with a bid of 51.43 million lei (excluding VAT) and can be signed unless objections are filed," the CNIR press release informs.

The funding is secured through European funds under the 2021-2027 Transport Programme, as well as from the state budget and the total duration of the contract is 118 months, with 54 months allocated for design and execution and 60 months for work warranty, Agerpres informs.

"The role of the supervisor is particularly important as they will monitor the design and execution of the works, ensuring compliance, the quality of materials, and the equipment used," the CNIR representatives underscored.

According to the quoted source, two contracts for supervising works have already been signed for the four sections of the Sarateni-Pipirig section (116 km), covering lots 1D Joseni-Ditrau and 2A Ditrau-Grinties and the contracts for lots 1C Sarateni-Joseni and 2B Grinties-Pipirig were awarded this week.

The design and execution contract has been signed with the consortium of companies from Romania and Bosnia-Herzegovina, SA&PE Construct (leader) - Tehnostrade - Spedition UMB - Euro Asfalt, with the design phase set to begin on 30 March 2026.
