Romanian tennis players Jianu and Boitan qualify for Targu Mures challenger tournament round of 16

Romanian tennis players Filip Cristian Jianu and Gabi Adrian Boitan qualified on Wednesday for the round of 16 of the Intaro Open 2 challenger tournament in Tagu Mures, an event with total prize money worth 54,000 euros.

Jianu (aged 23, ATP's 263rd), the fifth seed, defeated Austrian Maximilian Neuchrist (aged 34, ATP's 385th) 6-2, 6-7 (2/7), 6-3, after two hours and 15 minutes.

Jianu now leads the head-to-head with Neuchrist 3-0, having also beaten him last week at Intaro Open 1, 6-3, 6-2, in the round of 16.

Boitan (aged 26, ATP's 354th) saw off Cezar Stefan Bentzel (aged 17) 6-0, 6-3, after 65 minutes.

Jianu and Boitan have each secured 900 euros and 4 ATP points. Jianu will face Italian Franco Agamenone in the round of 16, while Boitan will take on Spaniard Nicolas Alvarez Varona.

On Tuesday, Sebastian Gima also booked his spot in the round of 16.
