Romanian Justice Minister Alina Gorghiu announced on Thursday having signed, together with her Moldovan counterpart Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, a joint action plan, in a bid to support the neighboring country's EU accession journey.
"A day in Chisinau. A city with a European atmosphere! Together with Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, I signed today our ministries' joint action plan on justice for the period 2025 - 2027. The priority for the next 3 years is to support the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European Union. The focus of the new plan is connecting the legislation of the Republic of Moldova to the EU acquis. We are also sending experts to help with any specific problem," Gorghiu wrote on Facebook.
She specified that the new edition of the Constitutional Codex was launched on the same day in Chisinau. The Romanian language edition contains the constitutions of all the EU member states, of the Republic of Moldova, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. "Law experts such as Sefan Deaconu, Elena Simina Tanasescu, Robert Cazanciuc, Silviu Gabriel Barbu and Ioan Muraru worked on this volume. It is available online on the website of the Institute for European Policies and Reforms of the Republic of Moldova, at ipre.md. It will also be soon available on the website of the Romanian Justice Ministry," Gorghiu said.
The talks between the two ministers also approached cooperation on the management of crime proceeds
"The Republic of Moldova sent a significant amount of requests to Romania's National Agency for the Administration of Impounded Assets. Last year we identified 100 crime-related vehicles, 49 bank accounts, 2,597 immovable assets," explained Alina Gorghiu.
The JusMin informed that she also had meetings with the president of the Republic of Moldova's Superior Council of Magistrates Sergiu Caraman, with the acting president of Moldova's Supreme Court of Justice Stela Procopciuc, and with Republic of Moldova PG Ion Munteanu.
"I am absolutely convinced that the referendum at the end of this week will draw many citizens to the polls. It will be a decision assumed by the citizens, for the future," Alina Gorghiu said.
