Russia's actions are not abstract or distant, but concretely affect the daily lives of Moldovan citizens - from light and heat to access to safe water, the Romanian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova announced on Tuesday.
In the last 24 hours, the diplomatic mission stated on Facebook, Romania has once again acted quickly and decisively to protect the daily lives of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
"We have substantially helped in two vital areas - providing electricity and drinking water - at a time when Russia's aggressive actions in Ukraine have once again had a direct impact on the population on this bank of the Prut. Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure in Ukraine have put the Isaccea - Vulcane?ti power line, through which reliable electricity comes from Romania and the European Union, out of operation. In this moment of crisis, we have intervened for the stability of the energy system of the Republic of Moldova, so that every citizen on this bank of the Prut can have light in their home," explained the Romanian Embassy.
According to the diplomatic mission, the four 110 kV power lines with Romania, prepared since 2025, have been activated, which have demonstrated their efficiency, just as during the partial blackout on January 31 this year.
"In a context in which energy is becoming an instrument of pressure and destabilization, Romania's rapid reaction meant continuity and safety for citizens. Also in these days, Russia's actions led to the pollution of the Dniester River and endangered access to drinking water for numerous communities. Here too, Romania responded without delay, offering expertise, equipment and technical solutions for monitoring and limiting the effects of contamination, directly contributing to protecting people's health," the diplomatic mission added.
According to the embassy, in the face of these challenges, Romania stands in solidarity and demonstrates through actions that it intervenes "rapidly" and "efficiently" when needed, "real support that makes a difference in critical moments."
