The Romanian national team was promoted to Division A of the FIBA U16 EuroBasket Men's European Basketball Championship on Friday evening, after qualifying for the final of Division B in Skopje.
A month after the similar performance of the U20 representative, the U16 men's national team also managed to be promoted to the Division A of the European Championship, and will duel at the FIBA U16 EuroBasket 2025 with the great powers of continental basketball, says the Romanian Basketball Federation.
Romania defeated Switzerland with a score of 72-65 (25-15, 21-21, 11-17, 15-12), at the end of a match that it controlled from one end to the other.
On Saturday, at 22:30, Romania will play the final against Estonia.
In the group, Romania won against Norway (90-55), Denmark (102-70), Ireland (93-70), Great Britain (76-57) and Slovakia (91-62), in the quarterfinals it defeated Sweden (96-73), and in the semifinals it beat Switzerland (72-65).
