Generative AI (GenAI) is a double-edged sword used by both cyber-security professionals and hackers, and the 2024 edition of ProVision Security Day wants to sound the alarm on November 6 in Bucharest.

According to the organisers of ProVision Security Day, the most important local event for the cyber-security sector, the conference will have a panel dedicated to the increasing use of GenAI in cyber-crimes. The organisers want to demonstrate that GenAI tools are used both in the arsenal of security equipment, for automating data monitoring and prioritising response actions, and by hackers, who use them to refine attack messages.

"The report 'AI in Cybersecurity: Friend or Foe?', drawn by Deep Instinct on a sample of 650 specialists, shows that 97% of them are worried that their organisations will be affected by the use of AI in cyber-crime operations. At the same time, 75% of the participants admit that the evolution of AI has affected and changed their cyber-security strategy in the last 12 months. Also, AI abuse ranks 9th in the 'Top 10 Emerging Cyber-security Threats in 2030' by the European Union Cybersecurity Agency (ENISA). On November 6, ProVision Security Day will address how AI improves threat detection, automates responses and optimises security operations, while addressing the risks associated with the misuse of AI in phishing, deepfakes and sophisticated cyber-attacks."

At the same time, the participants will gain valuable insights into both the benefits and challenges of integrating AI into cyber-security, preparing them to effectively navigate an ever-evolving threat landscape.

"Generative AI (GenAI) is a double-edged sword, and at ProVision Security Day we aim to explore that reality in detail. On the one hand, GenAI is transforming data analysis processes, facilitating the rapid detection of anomalies and improving the response time to security incidents. On the other hand, it gives cyber-criminals, even those with limited technical training, the ability to carry out more sophisticated and hard-to-detect attacks. This topic is of major interest to the entire community of cyber-security experts, and our guests will bring concrete examples from both perspectives. In its eleventh edition, the event expects to gather over 500 participants," says Alexandru Andriescu, founder of ProVision and organiser of the event.

The 2024 edition of ProVision Security Day enjoys a large international presence, with 30 speakers representing over 17 companies, who will take the conference stage. The agenda is complex, and in addition to the impact of GenAI, other items will include: the use of threat intelligence as a competitive advantage, the essential capabilities of a Security Operation Centre, cyber-security platformisation. Also, the attendees will be available for individual information and consultancy sessions.

The event will take place on November 6, at the Face Convention Centre, organised by ProVision, in collaboration with main business partners.

ProVision Security Day is an event dedicated to cyber-security professionals, organised by ProVision since 2006. The event highlights the main trends and technological innovations in this area and brings on stage renowned experts from prestigious global companies. Founded in 1997, ProVision is the most important "value added" (VAD) distributor of cybersecurity solutions and products in Romania. In addition, the company offers consulting, monitoring, detection and response services to information security incidents, through the specialist teams of the ProActive Hunt centre.
