President Klaus Iohannis conveyed on Monday a message on the occasion of decorating the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority for celebrating 25 years, in which the President stressed his wish for a better future of Romania and for a more comprehensive outlook of air transportation.
"I appreciate both your involvement in actively endorsing the growth of this sector and the constant concern for the flight safety and security of the civil aviation. I would like for the future to bring in our country, too, a more comprehensive outlook in terms of air transportation. Romania needs a coherent vision in terms of public policies, that also takes into account aspects such as the quality of infrastructure, environment issues or research-development and innovation investments. In this regard, I believe it's time to focus increasingly more on what durable and responsible development should represent for Romania's aeronautic activity. From this perspective, the institutional role of the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority remains an essential one. I have the belief that you will further fulfill, with maximum professionalism, the objectives assumed," President Iohannis stated, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Monday.
The head of state also remarked that "Romania is currently one of the European countries with significant growth rates in the civil aviation area, from one year to another, even if we don't rank among the European Union member states that have a very intense activity in terms of air transport."
"I convey my congratulations to the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority, which you represent today, for celebrating 25 years of activity full of performances and achievements. Thanks to the illustrious contributions of the Romanians noted in the history pages of the aeronautical industry around the world, our country is known and recognized through its emblematic role in the birth and development of aviation. (...) Over the past two decades, approximately 158 million passengers used Romania's airports. If in the beginning of the 1990s, the number of passengers was just over 2 million, the number of passengers increased by ten times in 2017 and the flights became safer. This progress is largely due to the activities carried out by the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority throughout this period. I wish you good luck!," reads President Klaus Iohannis' message.
