President Nicusor Dan says that among the picks for the heads of the three prosecutors' offices there are "very interesting" people
He adds that he does not agree with the opinions expressed in the public space on this subject.
"It seems to me that they are, and they speak as seriously as possible, it seems to me that there are some very interesting people among them. I have also seen the comments in the public space; they are not of the same opinion. On the contrary, of course it is a competition, people come up with a management plan that I do not know at the moment, but looking only at the names I have seen, for each of the three Prosecutors' Offices there are very interesting people and I am optimistic that they will energise...", Dan told a news conference after an informal meeting of the leaders of the European Council, which took place at Alden-Biesen Castle in Belgium.
According to him, it is an unfounded "speculation" that Marius Voineag could control another institution from the position of deputy at the Attorney General's Office.
"Regarding Mr. Voineag, it seems to me a baseless speculation that a man who can possibly be a deputy at one institution will control another institution. That seems to me to be without any foundation," he said.
On the other hand, the president did not want to give a deadline for proposals for the heads of the secret services.
"Deliberately, these discussions are suspended when there are other discussions and tensions in the public space, in politics. So now let's see, let's finish the contest for the prosecutor, the budget, and we will come back to them," he said.
As for a referendum on Justice, which would take place among magistrates, Dan said that the technical proposals are currently being analysed to ensure the confidentiality of the consultation.
"We are analysing the technical proposals to ensure, on the one hand, confidentiality, on the other hand, for all those who look at this approach, the certainty that it is something real and we do not put some extra things there," he said.
At the same time, asked about the status of the report on the elections, Dan replied: "We are working on it."
