Dozens of people protested, Thursday evening, in front of the Palace of Justice in Timisoara against the postponement of the Constitutional Court (CCR)'s decision regarding magistrates' pensions.
Initiated and organized by the Timisoara Civic Action, the protest represents a first step in the development of future strategies of civil society on this issue.
"It is a first step towards the decision that the CCR has taken, to postpone for the fifth time the decision on special pensions. If things remain the same, we will continue, we will organize and, through our democratic means, we will draw the attention of civil society to what the CCR is doing. We do not have the strength that political parties have. The most we can do is to raise awareness among the population," Laurentiu Stefanescu, president of the Timisoara Initiative Association, told the press.
The speakers expressed dissatisfaction with the small number of protesters, although "we are all affected" by the postponement of this decision.
Those present chanted slogans such as: "Equal before the law", "We want justice, not corruption", "We want justice reform".
