Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos told a PM Question Time at the Chamber of Deputies on Monday that he asked the state secretaries left behind from the previous government to refrain from doing party politics and demanded the prefects and deputy prefects considering running in this year's elections to step down.
"About holding the elections with the people from the previous government, I want so say that most of the state secretaries were replaced, not for their party membership, but because it was my agreement with the ministers I recommended for my Cabinet to let them choose the collaborators they want to work with. To a large extent, the state secretaries were replaced, and I clearly told the remaining ones that no matter their party affiliation, for the time of this Cabinet's term in office I demand them to refrain from doing party politics if they want to stay in office. If I detect state secretaries who want to do party politics, I will invite them to choose the party over the Cabinet. That was my very clear message," said Ciolos.
He added that prefects are being assessed and some of them will be replaced for underperforming.
He said Romania's administration has to be changed, and he will come before Parliament with proposals to this end. AGERPRES
