Casa Avramide in eastern county of Tulcea is hosting, starting Tuesday evening, the People and Deltas photo exhibition signed by Dragos Lumpan, the 50 snapshots captured by the artist presenting inhabitants of three wetlands in Romania, Spain and Turkey.
The event organized within the homonymous project financially supported by the National Cultural Fund Administration (AFCN) will continue on Wednesday, August 7, on the Danube embankment in the village of Mahmudia with the presentation of other snapshots and will arrive at the House of Culture in the village of Sfantu Gheorghe, on August 9, at the Cultural Center in the village of Chilia Veche, on August 11, at the Old School in the city of Sulina, on August 14, and at the Ivan Patzaichin Museum, on August 17.
"I prefer to take pictures of people. The Delta is not very populated, but still there are about 10,000 people. I think every once in a while they deserve more attention, or at least a little attention, more than the anything left from the birds, more than the support to give me a fried fish or a fish borsch," declared Dragos Lumpan, during the opening in Tulcea.
The exhibition hosted until the end of this month by Casa Avramide presents people from the Danube Delta, Romania, the Ebru Delta, Spain, and the Kizilirmak Delta, Turkey, snapshots taken last year and this year.
"The photos from the exhibitions in Tulcea county vary a little, but the core is the same. The website already has interviews with people from the Danube Delta, and in the fall there will be interviews with people from Spain and Turkey. At the end of the fall, there will be more photos on site from the three deltas," said Dragos Lumpan.
As part of the project financed by AFCN, the artist took almost 200,000 photos, and in the interviews he had conducted, the inhabitants of the deltas present their opinions about their lives.
Photographer and film director, Dragos Lumpan is the author of several photo albums appreciated by specialized critics and is a member of the Union of Visual Artists, the Union of Cinematographers of Romania and the Association of Photographic Artists.
