The Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Father Daniel, sent a video message on Monday on the occasion of the Feasts of the Nativity of the Lord, the Baptism of the Lord and the New Year 2026, in which he urges the cultivation of faith, peace and communion.

"In order to grant people the forgiveness of sins and eternal heavenly life, the eternal Son of God, Jesus Christ, descends from heaven, is conceived, through the work of the Holy Spirit, of the Virgin Mary and is born as a Man-Child in Bethlehem of Judea, as predicted, seven hundred years earlier, by the prophets Isaiah (7:14) and Micah (5:1). At the birth of the Baby Jesus, a multitude of angels from heaven sang: ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men' (Luke 2:14). Therefore, the feast of the Nativity of Christ or Christmas is the feast of the glorification of God, of peace on earth and of good will or communion among men," the patriarch said.

Patriarch Daniel emphasizes that, "if we welcome this holiday with faith, hope and generous love, it brings us peace and joy in the soul, in the family, in the parish, in the monastery, in every community or institution, in society, in the people and in the whole world".

On the occasion of the holy holidays, the Patriarch wishes "health and happiness, peace and joy, together with the traditional greeting: 'Happy New Year!'.
