The Romanian wrestler Andreea Beatrice Ana will perform on Thursday in the re-qualifying of the 53 kg category, after Lucia Yamileth Yepez Guzman (Ecuador), who defeated her in the quarter-finals, qualified for the final of the Olympic Games in Paris.
Ana (23 years old), who took 16th place at the Tokyo Olympics, got past Mariana Dragutan of Moldova in the eighth round, but was unable to prevail against the South American fighter, ranked 8th at the Tokyo Olympics at cat. 50 kg.
Andreea Beatrice Ana, triple European champion in cat. 55 kg, will benefit from the fact that Yepez Guzman qualified for the finals after defeating the German Annika Wendle in the penultimate act. The Romanian will face Hyo Gyong Choe of North Korea in re-qualifying, defeated by Yepez Guzman in the round of 16. If she passes Choe, Ana will fight for bronze with Wendle.
