Non-resident direct investments in Romania fell to 1.475 billion euros after first five months

Direct investments by non-residents in Romania fell to 1.475 billion euros after the first five months of this year, compared to 2.087 billion euros in the period January - May 2024, according to data from the National Bank of Romania, published on Monday.

Equity investments (including estimated reinvested profit) totaled a net value of 2.527 billion euros, and intragroup loans recorded a net value of -1.052 billion euros, agerpres reports.

The current account of the balance of payments recorded a deficit of 12.632 billion euros in the period January - May 2025, up 46.7% compared to the period January - May 2024, when the negative current account balance was 8.61 billion euros, according to the central bank.
