In October 2024, loans to the non-government sector granted by credit institutions increased by 0.7% compared to September 2024 (0.1% in real terms), up to the level of 416.063 billion RON, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) reported on Tuesday.
Thus, RON-denominated loans, representing 70.1% of the total volume of loans granted to the non-government sector, increased by 1.1%, while foreign currency-denominated loans, holding 29.9% of total loans to the non-government sector, decreased by 0.3% (a similar development compared to when the indicator is stated in EUR).
Against the same period of 2023, loans granted to the non-government sector recorded an increase of 8.9% (4.1% in real terms), due to the increase by 11.7% of the component in RON (6.7% in real terms) and by 3% of the component in foreign currency expressed in RON (2.8% when stated in EUR).
Loans to the non-government sector granted by credit institutions recorded an increase by 2.5% in October compared to September 2024, up to 228.063 billion ROB. Compared to October 2023, it increased by 23.8% (18.2% in real terms).
Broad money (M3) amounted to 707,036 billion RON, at the end of October 2024. It increased by 1.3% (0.6% in real terms) compared to September 2024, and compared to October 2023 it increased by 10.3% (5.4% in real terms).
