President Nicusor Dan conveyed on Monday, on the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, that he supports Romania's commitments to the Jewish community.
"Symbolizing continuity and renewal, Rosh Hashanah is an opportunity to reflect lucidly on how we can cooperate so that the society we live in is better, more balanced, more inclusive, more just and open to our fellow human beings. Under the auspices of the beginning of the year, we have the opportunity to reaffirm our adherence to European principles, democracy and the rule of law, to stand firmly on the side of dialogue and respect for all people," the head of state declared, according to the Presidential Administration.
The head of state calls for an inclusive society.
"We can build a balanced and dignified society only if we base it on the values that define our humanity, condemning anti-Semitism, xenophobia, racial discrimination, hatred and violence. I firmly support Romania's commitments to the Jewish community and I believe that, in our country, where the need for reconciliation prevails over the extremisms that have left deep wounds in history, the Rosh Hashanah holiday strengthens what we have undertaken to accomplish together: a society that respects diversity, builds trust, supports performance and honors the courage of memory", the president emphasized.
