A damage of 40.694 million lei, representing the total amount that 14 Bulgarian companies should have paid to the Romanian state as VAT, was estimated by anti-fraud inspectors from the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF), according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday.
According to the same source, between February 1, 2020 - November 30, 2020, in an attempt to avoid paying their tax obligations, the said 14 companies simulated that they bought used cars in Bulgaria, while the delivery and registration was actually done in Romania, with transactions not being declared.
"The companies controlled by the ANAF inspectors specialized in making intra-community acquisitions of used vehicles from various suppliers in the intra-community space and dealt with the transport, unloading, reception and delivery of vehicles directly in Romania, where they were subsequently delivered to natural and legal persons, without these transactions being declared and without the companies registering for VAT purposes in our country," the same press release states.
Thus, the Bulgarian companies did not report their intra-community acquisitions from partners in the European Community, although the latter did declare VAT-exempt intra-community supplies to Bulgarian companies.
At the same time, the vehicles were promoted for sale on the Autovit.ro and olx.ro websites, being delivered and registered on the Romanian territory, as shown by the analysis of the documents made available to the control teams and by the final customers, owners of the vehicles registered on the territory of our country.
