The Ministry of Finance has approved the project regarding the granting of spa treatment tickets for 2026, carried out through the system organized and administered by the National House of Public Pensions, with a total budget of 410 million RON.
"The Ministry of Finance supports all measures that have a direct impact on the health and quality of life of citizens. We have granted the necessary approval to this project and we maintain our commitment to supporting its implementation under conditions of responsibility and transparency. Spa treatment is not only a form of social support, but an investment in people's health and in their ability to remain active. At the same time, we contribute to supporting an important economic sector for Romania," declared Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare, in a statement sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.
The draft normative act was submitted to the Ministry of Finance on March 31, 2026, for analysis and approval, by the Ministry of Labor, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity, in accordance with the applicable legal procedures. The approval process was carried out in compliance with all stages of technical-economic and budgetary analysis, within the decision-making circuit.
This draft decision ensures, for the year 2026: a total budget of 410,000,000 lei, allocated from the state social insurance budget, under the chapter "Insurance and social assistance - Social assistance in kind"; up to 50,896 spa treatment tickets, distributed in a maximum of 16 series, in the treatment units owned by the National House of Public Pensions; the possibility of supplementing the number of tickets through subsequent contracts concluded with other specialized units, within the limits of the approved funds; granting a maximum of 15% of the total tickets free of charge to categories of persons benefiting from reparative laws.
The measure is addressed to insured persons and pensioners of the public pension system and contributes both to improving the health status of the beneficiaries and to supporting the activity of spa treatment units and economic operators in the field.
"The Ministry of Finance reaffirms its support for public policies that promote social protection, equity and access to essential services for citizens and emphasizes that the approval procedure was carried out expeditiously, in the spirit of inter-institutional collaboration, so that the project could enter the government decision-making circuit without delays that could have affected the beneficiaries of this social benefit," the press release reads.
At the same time, the Ministry of Finance specifies that the pace of approval does not depend exclusively on the timing of the submission of the documentation, but on its quality and completeness, and in this case the approval was granted after the submission of the requested additions, the last request being made at the beginning of April 2026.
