"Discover and know Romania" is a programme the Ministry for Romanians Abroad wishes to continue throughout the year 2018, dedicated to the Great Union Centennial, Minister Andreea Pastarnac said on Friday at the Parliament Palace where the project's second stage was opened.
"Discover and know Romania" brings to Bucharest rd 100 young people from the Republic of Moldova who for three days will meet representatives of the Romanian authorities, the minister detailed.
"Beyond the dialogue you'll have, hopefully you'll return home with a wish to cooperate with us, with cooperation ideas. If last time most of you were Law students, many were working in the public administration - and I have met a lot of ideas linked to these fields - I understand that today many of you are working in engineering, exact sciences, in the social domain and in social care. Your ideas will enrich us," she added.
Andreea Pastarnac gave a few details about how the programme runs. "In general, when creating programmes or develop policies dedicated to the Romanians abroad or the historic communities, we have a tool that is the interministerial group. (...) This way we are trying to understand what are the best instruments we could apply for those who are abroad," the minister specified.
According to her, the programme is part of a series of similar initiatives all over the world.
"As a diplomat, I had the chance to talk, in the countries where I was in the diplomatic service, with the young people in other countries, who participate in similar programmes. (...) I believe that through this programme (Discover and know Romania, ed. n.) we basically engage in an effort many states with communities abroad are making, it is a successful pattern everywhere, a pattern that practically is based on what the real world is today, a world of interactions, a world of the travel speed, a world of connections," the minister added.
The opening event was attended by members of the gov't, parliament. AGERPRES .
