The Labour Ministry will be in technological unemployment in the following two years, because we have enforced all the measures of the ruling programme and we have also started a Ministry's reorganisation procedure and half of the leadership positions at county level will vanish, on Sunday night stated the Labour minister Lia Olguta Vasilescu at private television broadcaster Antena 3.
She admitted that it is very likely that redundancies be carried out at the public employees' level in the future, since "several staff lists are bloated."
"It is very likely (for redundancies to take place, ed. n.) and this is normal, because many staff lists are bloated. I said it as a mayor [Vasilescu used to be a mayor of Craiova City, ed. n.]: if as of tomorrow half of the city hall leaves, that will be unnoticeable," minister Vasilescu added.
When asked whether this is valid for all of the mayoralties, she answered: "It depends. For the large city halls, yes, it is, in principle. For the small mayoralties, in villages, where they have merely 11 employees, well, it is hard to work like this."
Lia Olguta Vasilescu specified that a reorganisation procedure at the Labour Ministry's level has kicked off.
"Obviously they [the redundancies at the state's level, ed. n.] are possible. Besides, we have commenced a reorganisation procedure at the Labour Ministry. As you know, four entities are comprised in the Labour Ministry at county level and naturally it is easy for us, at the ministry, to carry out a reorganisation there. Firstly, half of the county leadership positions vanish - it is normal to be so - meaning, instead of four entities, there can be only two with the same staff, but with the halved leadership positions, and in addition we have around 1,500 people who must be hired by the National Pensions House so as to recalculate the Pension Law and then a great part of the staff that we no longer need in certain such entities will be reoriented to the National Pensions House," she explained.
Lia Olguta Vasilescu mentioned that she did not know about any possible move from the Ministry of Labor after the next gov't reshuffle. She added that a gov't reshuffle will take place "100pct".
