Head of the Interpol office in Costa Rica Gustavo Chinchilla announced on Thursday that Elena Udrea and Alina Bica are currently placed under pre-trial arrest for two months in the criminal centre Vilma Curling awaiting the extradition trial.
"Usually, once we make the arrest, the government asking for it [the arrest] has two months at its disposal to complete all the necessary formalities. However, the two persons detained have the right to appeal so that the trial won't be finalised," Chinchilla told a press conference broadcast on Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation Agency channel.
The Press Office of the Inspectorate General of the Romanian Police (IGPR) confirmed that Elena Udrea and Alina Bica were detained by law enforcement in Costa Rica on the night of Wednesday to Thursday.
