Musicologists from all over the world will lecture on Enescu and 20th Century Music, on Thursday and Friday, on the occasion of the 22nd edition of the International Musicology Symposium within the "George Enescu" International Festival.

The meeting, coordinated by university professor Nicolae Gheorghita, PhD, is taking place in the Auditorium of the National University of Music Bucharest (UNMB), and is organized by ARTEXIM, in partnership with UNMB and the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Romania (UCMR).

A large-scale event with international participation, the symposium offers the opportunity to learn about various and valuable studies dedicated to Enescu's creation, presented in several sections, moderated by Olguta Lupu (UNMB), Kevin Bartig (Michigan State University), Vlad Vaidean (UNMB), Erik Levi (Royal Holloway, University of London/Institute of Austrian and German Music Research/University of Surrey) and James Savage-Hanford (Royal Holloway, University of London/University of Oxford).

Fifteen musicologists invited to the current symposium will present, on this occasion, works about Enescu's aesthetics, studies of works by the great Romanian composer, as well as studies about how his music influenced other composers, thus continuing a significant tradition of UCMR, the "Enescu" Festival and Romanian cultural life.

At this high-profile meeting, papers will be presented by Corneliu Dan Georgescu (Germany), Mihu Iliescu (University of Montpellier/University of Lille/University of Besancon), Vasile Vasile (University of Pitesti), Olguta Lupu (National University of Music in Bucharest), Constantin-Tufan Stan (University of Oradea), Irina Nitu (National Museum "George Enescu", Bucharest), Petruta-Maria Maniut Coroiu (Transilvania University of Brasov), Mihai Cosma (National University of Music in Bucharest), Iulia Mogosan, (National Academy of Music "Gheorghe Dima", Cluj-Napoca), James Savage-Hanford (Royal Holloway, University of London/University of Oxford), Kevin Bartig (Michigan State University), Vlad Ghinea (National University of Music in Bucharest), Erik Levi (Royal Holloway, University of London/Institute of Austrian and German Music Research/University of Surrey), Camelia Anca Sarbu (National Museum "George Enescu"), Vlad Vaidean (National University of Music in Bucharest).

The International Symposium was founded by the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Romania in 1967, as an integral part of the 'Enescu' Festival and Competition.
