According to the strategic priorities for 2016 published by the Government on Friday, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) has to fight organized and cross-border crime, terrorism and radicalization, illegal migration, and human trafficking.
The ministry also has to properly support the local and parliamentary elections scheduled this year.
Other targets for the structure that includes the police, gendarmes and emergency response staff are the economic crimes, tax avoidance and corruption. It should also increase the level of public safety and help ensuring a competitive economic environment.
The MAI is also involved in Romania's commitments towards the European Union, NATO and other international organizations. AGERPRES
