Nearly 35 tonnes of fireworks have been seized by police so far as part of the "Pirotehnic" Plan, resulting in 540 criminal cases involving 606 individuals.
According to the Romanian Police Inspectorate General (IGPR), from 22 September 2025 to 5 January 2026, the Weapons, Explosives and Hazardous Substances Directorate is carrying out the national "Pirotehnic" action plan to monitor compliance with legal provisions related to fireworks operations during the 2025/2026 winter holidays.
Since the start of the operation until 18 December, 1,321 actions and checks were carried out on authorised individuals and entities.
A total of 540 criminal cases have been opened, with 593 offences identified and 606 individuals placed under investigations. Furthermore, 156 home searches were conducted.
Moreover, policemen imposed 126 fines worth a total of 181,685 lei and confiscated nearly 53 tonnes of fireworks, valued at 2,747,375 lei.
