The National Weather Administration (NMA) issued on Monday a code yellow warning for heat wave and thermal discomfort in ten counties in the south and south-east of the country, including the city of Bucharest, valid between July 15, 10:00hrs and July 16, 10:00hrs.
According to meteorologists, on Tuesday, the heat wave will persist in the southern parts of Oltenia, in the southern, central and eastern parts of Muntenia, as well as in mainland Dobrogea, where there will be heat and high thermal discomfort. The temperature-humidity index (THI) will easily exceed critical 80. Highs between 34 - 37 degrees Celsius, and lows of 19 - 22 degrees Celsius, with nights typical of tropical nights, agerpres reports.
The counties fully covered are Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Ialomita, Calarasi, Braila along with Bucharest City and parts of the counties of Constanta and Tulcea.
Meteorologists are warning that the heat wave will persist until Wednesday in the southern regions, and on Thursday it will manifest itself in the southeastern ones.
Also, a code yellow for heat and thermal discomfort will come into force on Monday at noon and will be valid until Tuesday, at 10:00hrs. Thus, the heat is expected in the western and southern parts of Oltenia, in the southern, central and eastern parts of Muntenia, as well as in continental Dobrogea, where there will be heat and high thermal discomfort.
The temperature-humidity index (THI) will easily exceed critical 80. Highs between 35 - 38 degrees Celsius, and lows between 18 - 21 degrees Celsius, with nights typical of ropical nights.
On Monday, between 12:00hrs and 21:00hrs, meteorologists warned that the heat wave will grip the western and southern parts of Oltenia, the southern half of Muntenia, as well as the southern parts of continental Dobrogea, where there will be high heat and high thermal discomfort. The temperature-humidity index (THI) will easily exceed critical 80. Highs will be 35 - 38 degrees Celsius.
According to ANM, the heat wave in the southern regions will persist throughout midweek.
