The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, expressed his hope that in the following period there will be a decision at a political level for adopting COVID electronic certificate, through which a "lockdown" could be avoided, as well as closing schools and a large number of casualties caused by the SARS-CoV-2 infection, agerpres reports.
He explained on Wednesday, during a press conference, that the electronic certificate should be introduced before an increase in number of cases with Omicron variant.
"Unfortunately, one measure that will slow down the spread, namely using that COVID certificate - we elaborated it, as you well know, it was not adopted - it is a measure that we could have taken, even if only temporary, in Romania, so that we can better manage this 5th wave. It remains to be seen if there will be a political decision in the following period, that can lead to adopting such a document, in order to avoid three major aspects (...) which I, personally, as well as my colleagues, as people in the medical profession wish to avoid," Rafila said at the Ministry of Health.
Alexandru Rafila wants authorities to have every tool at their disposal for managing the fifth pandemic wave, whose debut can be taken into consideration when the infection rate surpasses 1 in 1000 inhabitants.
