The Government approved on Thursday, through a memorandum, Romania's accession to the European Agency for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education (EASNIE).

According to a Government press release, the European Agency for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education is an independent, non-profit European organisation that acts as a platform for collaboration for the education ministries of the member states of the European Union.

It supports the development of inclusive education systems in order to ensure every pupil's right to benefit from inclusive, equitable and high-quality educational opportunities, the release reads.

EASNIE comprises 31 member states, 26 of which are EU member states.

'Romania's acquisition of member status and participation in the agency's activities represent an essential opportunity for cooperation in achieving the national objectives concerning the promotion and provision of inclusive education for all pupils,' the Government says.
