Romanian tennis player Gabriela Ruse qualified, on Thursday, for the semifinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Hamburg, worth 100,000 euros, after defeating the German Tamara Korpatsch, the second seed, 6-1 4-6 6-3.

Ruse (26 years old, 142 WTA) won after two hours and 18 minutes of play, thus taking her revenge against the German player, who defeated her last year in Cluj-Napoca, in the final of the Transylvania Open tournament, 6-3 6-4.

Gabriela Ruse leads Korpatsch (29 years old, 109 WTA) with a score of 3-1 in direct matches, after defeating her in 2018 in the round of 16 in Montreux, Switzerland, 3-6 6-1 6-3, and qualifying in Prague in 2020, with 7-6 (7/5) 0-6 6-4.

Ruse, who secured a 5,222 euros cheque and 49 WTA points, will play in the penultimate act against the Dutch Arantxa Rus (33 years old, 101 WTA), the third seed. Their only previous meeting was in 2020, at Andrezieux-Boutheon (ITF), and Rus won in the first round 4-6 6-1 6-1.

Gabriela Ruse won the Hamburg tournament in 2021, coming from the qualifiers, but at that time the competition was at the WTA 250 level.
