Fostul președinte Ion Iliescu a murit marți, la vârsta de 95 de ani, a anunțat președintele Partidului Social Democrat (PSD), Sorin Grindeanu.
Iliescu fusese internat la Spitalul „Prof. Dr. Agrippa Ionescu” la începutul lunii iunie, unde a fost operat de cancer pulmonar, iar în ultimele zile starea sa s-a deteriorat la un nivel critic, în urma avansării disfuncțiilor multiple de organe, conform rapoartelor medicale publice.
