Minister of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu demands that the perpetrators of the Russian war atrocities in Ukraine be held accountable in the International Criminal Court, Agerpres reports.
"I strongly condemn the horrible atrocities committed in Bucha and other cities of Ukraine as a result of the Russian aggression against Ukraine. All perpetrators of such international crimes must be held accountable by international justice. Romania fully supports a thorough investigation by the International Criminal Court," Aurescu wrote on Twitter on Sunday.
The bodies of at least 20 men in civilian clothes were found lying on a single street in Bucha, a city northwest of Kyiv which Ukrainian troops have just reclaimed from Russian forces, an AFP reporter wrote on Saturday. Ukraine has announced that Bucha has been freed of Russian control, but is ravaged by fighting.
In recent days, the Russian forces have retreated from several towns near the Ukrainian capital city after their failed siege attempts.
