Fire outbreaks at the landfill on the Oltchim platform in Ramnicu Valcea, Valcea County, have been extinguished, and a crew of firefighters will continue to provide surveillance at the scene, the Valcea Emergency Management Inspectorate (ISU) reported on Tuesday.
"At this moment, at the fire at the landfill on the Oltchim platform in the city of Ramnicu Valcea, there are no more active outbreaks. At the scene, surveillance is being provided by crews of the Ramnicu Valcea Fire Department equipped with a special water and foam fire suppression engine, with two non-commissioned officers," the quoted source said.
A fire broke out on Friday morning at a waste sorting facility on the chemical platform in Ramnicu Valcea, after a 20-meter-high pile of garbage from the yard of a non-hazardous waste sorting warehouse caught fire.
According to ISU Valcea, there were several fire outbreaks. Firefighters have been intervening since Friday to extinguish the outbreaks and, subsequently, to monitor the area.
