The budget deficit recorded in November stood at 6.4% of GDP, compared with 7.15% of GDP last year, amounting to RON 121 billion versus RON 125 billion, Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare announced on Tuesday evening at a briefing held at the end of the Government meeting.
"I have good news regarding budget execution. The budget execution for November has not yet been published, but I can tell you that the deficit recorded in November is 6.4%, compared with 7.15% last year. We are talking about approximately RON 121 billion, compared with RON 125 billion last year. In practical terms, the nominal deficit in November is lower by around RON 4 billion," Nazare explained.
As for the deficit target for 2026, the minister said it will be announced when the budget is drafted, but will be between 6% and 6.5%, Agerpres informs.
"The further we advance with drafting the budget, the more precisely we will know the final deficit figure for 2026. In any case, it will be within the limits already agreed with the Commission. We are on the agreed fiscal-budgetary trajectory," the Finance Minister stressed.
According to him, the first consultations for drafting the 2026 budget will begin in January, when a timetable for the budget's approval will also be announced.
